Permanent daylight saving time would mean keeping clocks one hour ahead of standard time throughout the year instead of moving them forward in spring and backward in autumn. The idea is intended to provide more daylight during the evening, but it would also produce later sunrises, especially during winter.

Supporters argue that a fixed clock would remove the disruption caused by changing time twice a year. Longer evening daylight may also support outdoor activities, shopping, tourism, and after-work recreation. However, the amount of economic or energy benefit remains debated, and daylight saving time does not create additional sunlight—it only changes how the hours of daylight are labeled.

Sleep researchers and health organizations have raised concerns about permanent daylight saving time because darker winter mornings can affect sleep schedules, school commutes, and the body’s natural circadian rhythm. Some experts therefore support permanent standard time instead, while others focus on ending the clock changes regardless of which system is selected.

In the United States, the debate became active again in 2026 after the House of Representatives passed legislation proposing year-round daylight saving time. The bill still required Senate approval and presidential action, so the change had not yet become law at the time of reporting.

Permanent daylight saving time is therefore a policy choice involving convenience, public health, safety, business activity, and regional differences in sunrise and sunset times.

Arsenal are called the Gunners because the club grew out of the Royal Arsenal munitions factory in Woolwich. Workers there formed a football team in 1886, and the nickname preserves that connection to their workplace. The team first played as Dial Square, taking its name from one of the factory’s workshops. It soon became Royal Arsenal, then Woolwich Arsenal in 1893, the year it entered the Football League. These names linked the club to both its industrial origins and its original home in south London. In ancient Greek theatres, dancer and musicians performed on a space between the audience and the stage. When Italy invented opera, Italian theatres arranged their musicians in the same way. Eventually the word, orchestra was used to describe the group of musicians and not the place where they performed. In the 18th century Germany, the composers began to write music for four basic group of instruments of the Orchestra. These were the woodwinds (flutes , oboes and bassoons), brass (horns and trumpets), percussion (kettle drums) and strings (violins, violas, cellos and double bass). These groups of instruments are still the basis of the modern symphony orchestra.
