When Did the Warriors Become Golden State?

Image
The Warriors became the Golden State Warriors in 1971, when the franchise moved across San Francisco Bay to Oakland. Before that change, they had spent nine seasons playing as the San Francisco Warriors. The club’s history began much farther east. Founded in 1946 as the Philadelphia Warriors, it moved to the West Coast in 1962. The sequence of names therefore records different chapters of the same franchise: Philadelphia, San Francisco and then Golden State. Another move came in 2019, when the Warriors returned to San Francisco to play at Chase Center in the Mission Bay neighborhood. The Golden State name stayed with them. Following the locations alongside the names helps explain how one basketball club can be associated with both San Francisco and Oakland, while tracing its beginnings to Philadelphia. How Does Cream Turn into Butter?

Image
Churning turns cream into butter by making its tiny milk-fat globules join together. Cream begins as fat dispersed through a watery liquid. As it is agitated, the fat gathers into visible grains and clumps, while liquid called buttermilk separates out. This rearrangement is called phase inversion. In cream, fat droplets sit within a continuous watery phase; in butter, fat forms the continuous structure and small water droplets are dispersed through it. Churning therefore changes how the existing fat and water are arranged, rather than creating fat from nothing. The butter grains are then worked together into a cohesive mass, helping remove more buttermilk. Salt may be added before packing and chilling. Temperature also matters: the balance between solid fat crystals and liquid fat affects how firm and spreadable the finished butter becomes. Source: University of Wisconsin Center for Dairy Research .
