Why Did Hurricane Polo Become So Powerful So Quickly?
Hurricane Polo is a powerful tropical cyclone that intensified rapidly over the eastern North Pacific in September 2026. After developing off the southwestern coast of Mexico, Polo strengthened from a tropical storm into a Category 5 hurricane in roughly a day . The National Hurricane Center reported maximum sustained winds of about 165 mph (270 km/h) at peak intensity.
