Which is the Nearest Galaxy to Our Own

The nearest galaxy, which is a spiral one like our's, is the Andromeda galaxy. It is over two million light years away. However, our galaxy's immediate neighbour is the Large Magellanic Cloud which is about 150,000 light years away.

It is only one-third of the diameter of our galaxy. The small Magellanic Cloud is about 190,000 light years away. Both these galaxies are irregular ones and are satellites of our own galaxy.
