Who are the Celts?
The Celts
were ancient people of north-western Europe. About 2000 years
ago,
they lived all over Britain, France, parts
of
Spain and Germany. In about 400 B.C., they crossed into Italy and attacked Rome.
They were
tall, fair and were largely warriors and farmers.
They lived in tribes who often
fought with
each other.
They were
metal workers and liked to
decorate their
weapons with bright designs.
They were
good musicians, poets and followed a religion called Druidism. Their
language still
survives in some parts of their dwelling. They are found in smaller
groups in
Europe.
