Cycling The riding of a bicycle for fitness, pleasure, or as a sport. There are several popular forms of cycling as a sport. In time trials cyclists race against the clock. Cyclo-cross is a mixture of cycling and cross-country running, with the bike on the shoulder. Track racing takes place on purpose built concrete or wooden velodromes. Criteriums are races around town or city centres. Road races are normally in excess of 150 Ian/100 mi in length, and take place either from one point to another, or involve several circuits around a predetermined road course. Stage races involve many days' racing, each consisting of 150 km/100 mi or more. The most famous cycle race is the Tour de France. >>
