Collectivism A set of doctrines asserting the interests of the community over the individual, and the preference for central planning over market systems. It advocates that economic and political systems should be based upon co-operation, state intervention to deal with social injustice, and central administration to ensure uniformity of treatment.

G ymnastics consists of a series of various physical exercises that are performed on equipment, such as horizontal bar, parallel bars, rings, balance beam , pommel horse and vault horse. It was very popular in ancient Greece and was included in the first Olympics in 1896. There are separate exercises for men an Women perform graceful steps, runs , jumps, turns and somersaults on a narrow wooden beam. They also hang from high bars and leap over a vaulting horse. They also perform floor exercises to music which resembles a dancers‘ movement in graceful style. Men hang from a high bar, rings, swing on parallel bars, vault and do handstands . They swing their legs and body on pommel horse and leap over a vaulting horse. Olga Korbut of Soviet Union performed very brilliantly in 1972 Olympics and the widespread television coverage of her performance made Gymnastics a very popular sport.

What is a Neutron Star?

A neutron star is the smallest and densest kind of star . It is about 20 km in diameter and have more than 1.4 times the mass of our Sun. This means that a teaspoonful would weigh a billion tons! As long as a star shines, the power of its radiation holds all the parts of atoms apart. But when the star begins to die, the gravity in the star makes the outer layer collapse inwards with such force that the centre is crushed to solid neutrons because the electrons and protons are forced together to make neutrons. A neutron star is one of the strangest objects in the universe. It becomes a million times heavier than lead. A pinhead size piece of a neutron star would weigh as much as a huge multi-storeyed building .

F latworms are flat, simple-bodied worm like animals ranging from the size Of a few millimetres to larger tropical forms. These worms are largely found in temperate and tropical regions of the world. They live under the stones and leaves , in freshwater streams and ponds. A few of them also live on land. Flatworms can regenerate themselves and if a worm is cut into few pieces , each piece will grow into a new flatworm. Some flatworms are parasites. For example the flukes and tapeworms.

How does a Mirror Work?

A mirror is a glass with a coating at its back. When we look into a mirror, light rays from us go and strike it. The rays pass through the glass and are reflected from the coating. The light is reflected back by a flat mirror at the same angle as it strikes the mirror. This makes an image seen in a flat mirror appear to be the same size and shape as the object. But a mirror image is always reversed.
