Where does the 'Travellers' Tree' Grow?

The Travellers' tree is a native of the island of Madagascar. It is an enormous tree with leaves up to four metres long. The leaves look similar to the banana leaves but they spread out in a fan shape. The tree grows sprays of white flowers up to twelve meters in height. At the base of their long stems, the leaves collect water. The water spurts out when the leaf is pierced at this spot. The tree is named so because in the early days, it used to provide water to the thirsty travellers.
