What are Flatworms?

Flatworms are flat, simple-bodied worm like animals ranging from the size Of a few millimetres to larger tropical forms. These worms are largely found in temperate and tropical regions of the world. They live under the stones and leaves, in freshwater streams and ponds. A few of them also live on land. Flatworms can regenerate themselves and if a worm is cut into few pieces, each piece will grow into a new flatworm. Some flatworms are parasites. For example the flukes and tapeworms.

How do Trawlers Fish?

T rawlers are vessels that fish with a large net called trawl. The trawl is a bag-like net and could be over 100 metres long. It is attached to the rear part of the vessel with long ropes, which can go down to enormous depths upto 1500 metres or more. The fish are swept in at the wide, open end and then get trapped at the narrower closed end. When the net is full of fish, powered winches bring it back to the vessel. Modern trawlers are big factories in themselves . The fish are automatically gutted, filleted and frozen there on board .

F lowers have male and female organs, i.e., anther and stigma, and they perform the function of producing seeds. The transfer of pollen from an anther to a stigma is known as pollination and is the first stage in the reproduction of plants. The flowers, in many cases, are pollinated by insects and to attract the insects , flowers have bright colours and often produce sweet scent and nectar. The flowers have bright colours to attract the insects. While drinking the nectar of the flower, an insect picks up pollen on its body and when it visits another flower, it brushes some of this pollen on to the stigma , thereby making cross pollination. Insect pollinated flowers are usually blue , yellow, pink or white. In some regions, birds, bats, rodents and marsupials help in pollinating flowers. These flowers too, are very brightly coloured.
