What is the Battle of Waterloo?

The Battle of Waterloo was fought on June 18, 1815, between the French on one side and the allied armies on the other in two groups. One group was from Prussia, North Germany and other group was a mixture of British, German, Dutch and Belgians. It was an important battle because Napolean Bonaparte led the French army. He had escaped from his prison island to become Emperor of France again. Other European countries were very worried by Napolean's return. They thought that he would destroy their plans for Europe. So they decided to fight him. The battle was fought near a village in Belguim called Waterloo. At first, the French did very well. But after the Prussian army arrived, the French were outnumbered. Napolean was defeated and finally was exiled to St. Helena, in the South Atlantic.
