How does a Wind Mill Work?

Wind mills are used to produce electricity to supply to cities and towns. Smaller windmills are used to pump water or to generate electricity for farms. Big windmills have blades that are 60 meters long and are mounted on towers about 100 metres high. The blades have to be very large and high to catch as much wind as possible. These blades turn a shaft that is connected to an electric generator on top of the windmill. This converts the wind energy into electricity.
