Why does the Sun Keep Shining?
The Sun is a huge glowing ball of gases. It is
made up of
90 per cent hydrogen atoms, about nine per cent helium atoms and one per cent
other elements,
such as oxygen and nitrogen.
In the centre of the Sun, the process of
nuclear fusion
goes on, through which hydrogen
atoms get
converted into helium atoms resulting in the
release of vast amount of nuclear energy. This energy
keeps the Sun shining.
