What is a Swing-wing Aircraft?
A swing-wing
aircraft is one where the pilot can change the shape of the wings as it flies. The
change in
wing shapes
in different conditions has big advantages. At the
time of take off, the wings are set at their maximum span.
For cruising flight, they are partly swept back.
For low level attack or supersonic flight, they are folded against the tail. For landing,
they are
brought forward
and out again to increase their surface area.
