What Makes a Lizard Shed its Tail?
A lizard
can shed its tail at it's will. It uses this feature as a means of self
defence.
When attacked by a predator, the lizard leaves behind its tail and
escapes. The
predator gets distracted and
confused while
the lizard saves it's life.
The loss
of the tail is temporary and
the lizard
gets a new tail regrown out of the tail stump.
